Let’s be brutally honest.
Most politicians are known to make glorified speeches in support legislation that they justify based on security/economic and/or righteous grounds. That all sounds nice and lots of gullible people fall for it. Media pundits argue the points left and right. But here’s the bottom line:
It’s about power.
That’s the first priority in every politicians bag, staying in office. Gaining power. Retaining power. Supporting anyone and everyone who will help them gain and retain power, no matter who it is. Both parties do it. They both suck up to major voting blocks based on race, ethnicity, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, unions, military organizations, wealth, lack of wealth, and religion.
Nothing exemplifies that better than the groveling to illegal immigrants. Those of you who think the Obama administration’s push toward legitimizing illegals is all about compassion and tolerance are living in La La Land. It’s all about creating voters. THEIR voters. By doing so, it creates a power block, probably the most sought after power block in the country today.
The law? Who cares about the law? Who cares if people are illegally swarming into the country, nesting anchor babies, breaking laws, committing crimes, adding to corruption and violence, filling prisons and taking jobs from Americans when Americans need them the most.
Now and then, I have been touched with heartfelt stories of truly honest and forthright illegal immigrants and their plight to become Americans. But I’m not talking about exceptions. I’m talking about the estimated 10-12 million people that are breaking the law just by being here, and then expect American taxpayers to foot the bills for welfare, housing, health care, education and prisons, all provided for breaking the law. This, in a time when our economy is in shambles.
Volumes of books and articles have been written exposing the nightmarish problems that American citizens in border states are suffering, yet the administration chooses to ignore that and continue pursuing the path to amnesty for law breakers. When Arizona passed legislation authorizing law enforcement to ask questions of law violators (note: Violators) requiring the presentation of lawful I.D., (with 70% approval from citizens) this administration SUED ARIZONA on behalf of the illegals, and then lobbied governments in other countries, and the U.N. for support. I’m still shaking my head.
A policeman’s job is to ask for I.D.!!! Especially from anyone who has violated an ordinance or broken a law.
Three other states have since enacted laws that mirror Arizona’s with the full support of citizen majorities, and ten others are on a similar path. But does this administration care about the will of Americans? No, they care about pumping up the numbers of Democrats so they can be assured of retaining power.
They care about voting blocks! Doesn’t matter if they comprise productive citizens, or those who break the law by coming here.
It’s getting worse. On June 17th, despite political setbacks and despite ignoring the will of the American people, the president issued an executive order which essentially mirrors the benefits afforded to illegals in the ill-fated Dream Act, which congress could not get passed. A FAIR poll at the end of 2010 shows that only 38 percent of American voters were in favor of this legislation. Congress tried, b ut could not get it passed. So, the next best thing, is when the president does not get his way, sign an executive order, to hell with the people.
Basically, the DREAM Act is about providing support for educational illegal aliens, affording a path to college for those illegals who have been attending school in the U.S., and later, citizenship. In other words, it rewards illegal immigration which, in turn, can only translate to a magnet for future swarms of illegal immigrants. It’s a political act.
In essence, Obama’s directive gives ICE and the U.S. Attorney’s Office discretion on who can and cannot be deported or taken into custody, which translates to a hands off policy as it pertains to student illegals. It’s an end run around the law. The law be damned. And, based on past performance by “let-em-go” Eric Holder, who approves of blacks intimidating white voters at polling places, we know were that’s going.
It will equate to a total hands-off enforcement policy, unless a serious crime is committed. Being in the United States illegally will – defacto – no longer be considered a crime.
A good 6-minute debate on Fox News — from both sides — can be seen in which columnist Charles Krauthammer makes some right-on, poignant remarks at 3:10, basically asserting that this is lawlessness which disregards the constitution. Check it out:
Behind closed doors it’s a whole different ball game. It’s all about vacuuming up those juicy two million potential voters, even if those students aren’t eligible until 2016. It sure makes the Hispanic block more secure for 2012.
The American taxpayer? Who cares? The will of Americans? Who cares?
That’s what dictators do. They skirt their homeland laws via executive orders to enact policy that enhances political needs in order to stay in power.
It’s all about power. Nothing else.
