There are very few reports of forcible rape inside of fundamentalist Islamic countries, not because they don’t occur, but because it’s too risky for the victims to report.
If a woman in a fundamentalist Islamic claims she was raped, she must be prepared to prove her accusations. That requires:
1) A confession by the perpetrator(s)
2) Producing four eye witnesses who will testify for the woman. Those witnesses must all be males.
Is it any wonder?
If a married woman cannot “prove” her claim, she is then considered an adulteress, a crime that is punishable by death. (Stoning)
Why then shouldn’t men in fundamentalist countries feel free to rape whoever they want, as it is a certainty it will not get reported, and if so, they will not be punished?
From the Koran:
Surah 24:14: “Why did they no bring four witnesses of it? But as they have not brought witnesses, they are liars before Allah.”
From the Hadith: Bukhari 5.59.462. Provides the background for the four witness rule. Muhammed’s favorite wife, Aisha, was accused of cheating. Three witnesses corroborated the event, but Muhammed refused to believe it and thus established a rule that four witnesses are required.
Recently, a woman in Tripoli broke loose from her captors (Kadhafi’s men, apparently) and rushed to a hotel where international journalists were assembled. Cameras were rolling when she began a tirade, claiming that she had been held and raped by fifteen men. Libyan men and women took control of the woman, smashed reporter’s camera’s and tackled the screaming woman to shut her up. Then they escorted her to a waiting car, and shuffled her off to nowhere. Her saving grace, might be that she managed to make an international scene of it. Otherwise, they will have dug the hole and collected the rocks for her by now. Watch:
A Queensland woman claims she was drug raped in the UAE. Here’s her story:
Then there is the case for divorce. In Islamic fundamentalism, a woman doesn’t dare ask for a divorce, unless she is willing to live through hell, or have her head removed, as the New York television station owner did in 2009. However, if a man wants a divorce, he simply says to the wife (three times): “I divorce you!”
If we really knew the true statistics about rape and abuse of women in places like Saudi Arabia, Libya, Syria, Yemen, etc., folks would undoubtedly be shocked. Then again, the UN would do nothing, because they are dominated by countries on the Human Rights Council, such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Is that not a laugh?
Can a married woman be raped by her husband, even if they are not living together?
Koran, Surah 2.223: “Your wives are a tilth for you, so go into your tilth whenever you like and do good beforehand for yourselves, and be careful of your duty to Allah, and know that you will meet Him and give good news to the believers.” In other words, a woman who is legally married cannot claim rape by a husband.
In Muhammed’s words, according to Ibn Majah (Hadith): “By him in Whose Hand lies my life, a woman can not carry out the right of her Lord, till she carries out the right of her husband. And if he asks her to surrender herself (for sexual intercourse) she should not refuse him even if she is on a camel’s saddle.”
As we might remember, a fumbling New Jersey judge in 2010 allowed the complaint of rape by a woman against her estranged husband, to be settled by Sharia law. In essence, her complaint was summarily dismissed in favor of the Islamic way. His ruling, thank goodness, was over ruled in a higher court.
That’s just a smidgen of where this whole thing can lead to in another fifty years if we keep making excuses for those who would make us (unbelievers and women) into slaves.
